1. Solution-oriented Research for Development (SOR4D) Programme
 
The Solution-oriented Research for Development (SOR4D) Programme, supports transdisciplinary projects with solution-oriented approaches that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and reducing poverty. It supports researchers from Switzerland in developing concrete innovative solutions for global challenges, together with researchers and practice partners from partner countries in the Global South.
 
Funding Organization: SOR4D, a joint funding scheme of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)
 
Scope: All disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, life sciences and health sciences.
 
Eligibility: Applications are open to international research consortia that include researchers from Switzerland as well as researchers and practice partners from developing countries.
 
Maximum Award: The Award provides 250,000 CHF per year (does not include indirect costs) for 3 to 4 years. Projects that demonstrate high potential for scaling, application, and transformation can receive funding for an additional 12-24 months.
 
Application Process: The applications must be submitted via the mySNF platform. Applications are submitted and selected in a two-stage process. A pre-proposal must first be submitted. If selected in the first round of evaluation, an invitation to submit a full proposal will follow.

2. Internet Society Foundation Research Grant Program
 
The Internet Society Foundation’s Research Program supports global research collaborations that advance understanding of the Internet and its value for all. The program fosters ideas and innovation that further the long-term goal of a world where people everywhere enjoy affordable, reliable, resilient Internet access and a safe, secure, and trustworthy online experience.

• Greening the Internet
• Measuring Meaningful Connectivity
• A Trustworthy Internet
 
Eligibility: The Research Grant Program is open to both individual researchers and organizations worldwide.
 
Maximum Award:
• Up to US$200,000 (individual researchers)
• Up to US$500,000 (organizations)

3. PTES Conservation Insight Grant Program
 
The PTES Conservation Insight Grant Programme funds research and conservation projects that generate scientific evidence to protect endangered species and their habitats. It supports practical, field-based conservation work that tests interventions, improves monitoring methods, and informs policy change.
 
Funding Organization: People’s Trust for Endangered Species (PTES)
 
Scope: Endangered species conservation
 
Eligibility:
• Applications are welcomed from scientific researchers and those working in the field of practical conservation. The project leader should be based either within an NGO or a university research department.
• Applications will only be considered from those working in countries classified by the World Bank as low and middle-income.
 
Maximum Award: Grants range from £3,000 to £10,000 per year, with a maximum of £20,000 over two years.
 
Application Process: The application will be conducted in two stages. Applicants are required to submit a pre-application form. Applicants shortlisted in the first stage will be invited to submit a full application. 4. Call for Proposals: Grants to Support Reducing Nuclear Dangers
 
The Consortium to Reduce Nuclear Dangers invites applications for projects aimed at reducing nuclear dangers. The consortium funds innovative, action-oriented work to reduce nuclear risks. Projects must present a clear, plausible link between proposed activities and lower risk outcomes, with a credible path to reducing nuclear dangers.
 
Funding Organization: Consortium to Reduce Nuclear Dangers
 
Scope: Applications should address at least one of the following three focus areas:
• Escalation, Crisis Instability, and Multi-Domain Risk
• Verification, Monitoring, and Risk Transparency
• Governance, Institutional Capacity, and Expert Talent
 
Eligibility: The consortium welcomes submissions from think tanks, university-based centers, independent NGOs, individual researchers, and equivalent institutions. Individuals and organizations both in and outside the US are eligible.
 
Maximum Award:
• Small Grants: $50,000–$200,000 (up to two years)
• Large Grants: $200,000–$1,000,000 (up to three years)
 
Application Process: The application will be conducted in two stages. Applicants are required to submit an application form. Applicants shortlisted in the first stage will be invited to submit a full application.
