1. Capacity Building in International Dementia Research (CBIDR) Program
 
The program targets capacity building for scientific investigation within institutions located in Low- and Middle-Income countries (LMIC) where prior research funding has been received, but barriers for sustainability exist.
 
Funding Organization: Alzheimer’s Association and the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI)
 
Scope: Potential applicants are encouraged to consider proposals that would fill current gaps in their research infrastructure and enable them to build larger and more sustainable portfolios, including but not limited to:
• Developing or expanding training programs
• Creating or adapting culturally appropriate research tools
• Collecting normative data
• Engaging in community outreach activities to raise awareness and bolster recruitment
• Supporting personnel who enable sustainable research including statisticians, laboratory managers, technicians, research administrators, and database analysts
• Building research databases
• Arranging for investigators to have protected time for research
• Organizing workshops around specific research skills such as grant writing and statistical methods
• Providing translation and proof-reading services
• Coordinating training and workshops for institutional personnel in topics that bolster research infrastructure, such as grant submission, research administration and laboratory skills
 
Eligibility:
• This opportunity is currently open to institutions / organizations in LMIC.
• The Project Lead must be a full-time faculty member or full-time paid employee of the organization submitting the proposal.
• It is expected that for applications from more senior level faculty that there is a plan to engage and develop junior faculty members through this support.
• The Project Lead or other key personnel at the institution/organization must have active or recently completed research funding upon which this proposal builds.
 
Maximum Award: The funding provides up to 250,000 USD per year (including indirect costs), with total costs for all years not to exceed 1,000,000 USD.
 
Application Process: The application will be conducted in two stages. Applicants are required to submit a letter of intent. Applicants shortlisted in the first stage will be invited to submit a full application.

2. 2027 Sony Women in Technology Award with Nature
 
The award program recognizes three outstanding early to mid-career women researchers in technology (including science, engineering, and mathematics), whose work is driving a positive impact on society and the planet.
 
Funding Organization: Sony in collaboration with Nature
 
Scope: Technology, including science, engineering, and mathematics
 
Eligibility: The award is open to applicants who self-identify as women and conduct research and development in technology. Eligible researchers working within a university, research institute, or university spin-out company are encouraged to apply.
 
Maximum Award: Winners will each receive a prize of $250,000 U.S. Dollars to support and accelerate work related to their research and a chance to showcase their achievements on nature.com.

3. Advancing Healthy Longevity in ASEAN: Integrating Physical, Mental, and Social Health for Active and Resilient Ageing
 
The ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI) invites researchers, practitioners, and innovators from ASEAN Member States to submit proposals that advance active ageing across the region.
 
This initiative supports evidence-based research and innovative solutions that enhance the well-being and quality of life of older adults. All funded projects contribute directly to ACAI’s Regional Action Plan (RAP), Pillar 1: Health and Well-being.
 
Funding Organization: ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI)
 
Scope: Proposals must address Health and Well-being as either an Exposure, Outcome, or Intermediary within one of the following four sub-themes:
• Sub-theme 1 – Social Connectedness and Mental Resilience in Ageing
• Sub-theme 2 – Digital Inclusion and Technological Innovations for Integrated Care & Self-Care
• Sub-theme 3 – Environmental Determinants of Healthy Ageing
• Sub-theme 4 – Inclusive Workspaces and Maintaining Functional Capacity
 
Eligibility: Applications are open to institutions and organisations from ASEAN Member States, including (but not limited to):
• Academic institutions and research centres
• Government agencies
• NGOs and civil society organisations
• Private sector entities working on ageing-related innovation
General Requirements
• Lead applicant must be employed at one of the organisations listed in eligible organisations
• Established track record in ageing research or innovation
• Inclusion of older people in all phases of research is a plus
• Applicants of all nationalities may apply
 
Early-career Applicant Requirements
• Within 1–5 years of completing a PhD, or a master’s degree holder with at least four years of additional research experience
• Currently affiliated with one of the organisations listed in eligible organisations
• Demonstrates capacity to complete the research within the specified timeframe
• Holds institutional endorsement from their affiliated organisation
 
Maximum Awards:
• Early-Career Support Grant – Up to USD 30,000
• Active Ageing Seed Grant – Up to USD 50,000
• Active Ageing Catalyst Grant – Up to USD 150,000
 
Application Process: The application follows a two-stage process comprised of an Expression of Interest (EOI), followed by a limited number of invited full proposals. All applications must be submitted online through https://acai2026grant.asean-acai.org/
