1. Small Research Grants on Education Program
The Small Research Grants on Education Program supports education research projects that will contribute to the improvement of education.
Funding Organization: Spencer Foundation
Scope: Education improvement
Eligibility: Eligible proposals must focus on research in education. Principal Investigators (PIs) and Co-PIs applying for a Small Research Grant on Education must have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field. The PI must be affiliated with a non-profit organization or public/governmental institution that is willing to serve as the administering organization if the grant is awarded. Examples include non-profit or public colleges, universities, school districts, and research facilities, as well as other non-profit organizations. Proposals are accepted from the U.S. and internationally.
Maximum Award: Up to $50,000 for projects ranging from one to five years.

2. Falling Walls Venture 2026 – Science Start-Up Competition
Falling Walls Venture is a global platform to showcase the entrepreneurial potential in science. They provide an exclusive stage for selected pioneering start-ups who have successfully turned science into business, creating entrepreneurial solutions for today’s most pressing challenges. Each year, innovative science-based start-ups from all over the world take part in the Falling Walls Venture competition.
Funding Organization: Falling Walls Foundation
Scope: All scientific disciplines
Eligibility:
• Falling Walls Venture is open to start-ups that are based on scientific research
• Falling Walls Venture is open to all scientific disciplines (e.g. biotech, data & AI, cleantech, new materials, engineering, healthcare, food & agriculture)
• Each start-up must be endorsed by a nominating institution. This can be a university, a research institution, or another type of organization, like an accelerator or incubator
• The company must be founded (incorporated) by the time of the application and cannot be older than 5 years
• Start-ups who have already participated in the Falling Walls Venture Pitches in Berlin are not eligible to participate again
• Start-ups should already have a prototype/proof of concept
Benefits:
• Get selected as one of the 25 Venture Finalists, participate in the Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin from 6 to 9 November 2026, and have your accommodation and part of your travel costs covered
• Present your work to a distinguished jury, global leaders and a selected audience during the Falling Walls Venture Pitches on 6 November 2026

4. IMU-Simons Research Fellowship Program for Developing Countries
The IMU-Simons Research Fellowship Program for Developing Countries (2024-2027) supports mathematicians from developing countries to travel to a mathematical institution for collaborative research for up to three months. The research visit has to be tied to a specific research project and a collaborating institute.
Funding Organization: International Mathematical Union (IMU)’s Commission for Developing Countries (CDU)
Research Scope: Mathematics
Eligibility: Applicants must
• hold a PhD in Mathematics;
• be based (place of work) in a developing country.
• be employed as a faculty member of a university or an equivalent institution;
• have already established contact with a mathematician in the host institution and have a definite research plan at the time of applying for the grant;
• be granted appropriate leave of absence from his/her institution for the period of visit;
• visit for at least a period of one month.
Maximum Award: The awarded amount ranges between USD5,000 – USD15,000 for up to a maximum duration of three months.

Application Deadline:
• 15 April 2026 for research visits starting between 15 August 2026 and 15 August 2027
• 15 July 2026 for research visits starting between 1 December 2026 and 1 December 2027
