Establishing infrastructure hubs to power evidence synthesis in low- and middle-income countries

The programme aims to build AI-enabled, living evidence synthesis capabilities to address policy-scale health challenges aligned with Wellcome’s strategic priorities.
 
Funding Organization: Wellcome Trust
 
Scope: Projects must focus on at least one health priority area (Climate and Health, Infectious Disease, Mental Health or Discovery Research) and one of the following sectors:
• Food systems
• Humanitarian assistance
• Economic growth
• Peace and effective institutions
• Social protection
 
 
Eligibility: This call is directed at teams of established researchers with demonstrated expertise in evidence synthesis, based at eligible organisations, with the lead applicant located in a low- or middle-income country (excluding mainland China).
 
Maximum Award: The funding amount ranges from 1.5 million GBP to 1.9 million GBP per award. Wellcome expects to fund five hubs through this competitive call. Grants will have a duration of 3 to 5 years.
 
Application Process: Applications must be submitted to the Wellcome Funding platform (https://funding.wellcome.org). The funding webinar will be held on 18 March 2026 at 12:00 GMT (19:00 in Bangkok).
