Nagao Wetland Fund – RIPO KMUTT

The Nagao Wetland Fund (NWF) supports local governments, researchers, non-governmental organizations and local communities of developing countries in the Asia and Oceania regions to implement the Convention on Wetlands.

Funding Organization: Nagao Natural Environment Foundation (NEF)

Research Scope: Conservation, restoration and utilization of wetlands

Eligibility:

The target countries include: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Viet Nam,Yemen, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Vanuatu.

Maximum Award: The maximum amount to be requested from the NWF for each project should not exceed USD 30,000.

Application Process:

• All project proposals MUST be prepared using the template attached to the Operational Guidelines (https://www.ramsar.org/sites/default/files/2026-03/nwf_guidelines_2026.pdf).

• ALL projects must be endorsed by the head of the Administrative Authority or the National Focal Point of the Convention on Wetlands in the country concerned. The contact details of the Head of the Administrative Authority or the National Focal Point of the Convention can be found on the relevant Contracting Party’s page at the following link: https://www.ramsar.org/contracting-partie.

• Formal submission of projects must be made online by 30 June 2026..

• The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands offers an advisory service to those developing proposals that wish to seek guidance. In order to do this, project developers are invited to submit draft project proposals to the Secretariat before 30 April 2026.
