Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking Call for Proposals

The Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) is a partnership between the European Union and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) that funds projects advancing competitive circular bio-based industries in Europe.

• Boosting biorefinery competitiveness through biotech (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IAFlag-01)

• SSbD bio-based alternatives for fertilizing and/or crop protection products (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IAFlag-02)

• SSbD bio-based solutions for home and/or personal care (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IAFlag-03)

• Diversification of nutritional food ingredient sources for increased EU resilience and strategic autonomy (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IAFlag-04)

• Biotech routes for valorization of residual biomass (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IA-01)

• Bio-based additives as alternatives to unlock and increase recyclability and/or biodegradability (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IA-02)

• Bio-based chemicals and/or materials from woody residues (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IA-03)

• High-performance, circular-by-design, bio-based thermosets (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IA-04)

• Films and coatings for circular packaging (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IA-05)

• Addressing separation and purification challenges in biorefineries (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-RIA-01)

• SSbD bio-based polymers from alternative sources (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-RIA-02)

• Develop breakthrough and sustainable bio-based textile fibers (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-RIA-03)

• Supporting industry in the switch to sustainable and circular bio-based products and processes (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-CSA-01)

Eligibility: The consortium must include:

• at least one independent legal entity established in an EU Member State; and

• at least two other independent legal entities, each established in different EU Member States or Associated Countries.

Once above minimum requirements are met, institutions from low- and middle-income countries, including Thailand, can participate in the consortium and are eligible for funding.
