1. Wellcome Early-Career Awards
This award provides funding for early-career researchers from any discipline and based in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, or low- and middle-income countries who are ready to develop their research identity.
Funding Organization: Wellcome Trust
Research Scope: Discovery Research that has the potential to improve human life, health and wellbeing.
Eligibility: The scheme is open to early-career researchers who
• have completed a PhD (for example, in the life sciences) or an equivalent higher research degree with a substantive period of research training,
• are based in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, or low- and middle-income countries, excluding India and mainland China.
Maximum Award: A Wellcome Early-Career Award provides a salary for the grantholder and up to £400,000 for research expenses.

2. Wellcome Career Development Awards
This award provides funding for mid-career researchers from any discipline and based in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, or low- and middle-income countries who have the potential to be international research leaders.
Funding Organization: Wellcome Trust
Research Scope: Dicovery research that has the potential to improve human life, health, and wellbeing.
Eligibility: The scheme is open to mid-career researchers who:
• have completed one or two substantial periods of research after his/her initial research training
• have made important contributions to his/her area of research.
• are based in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, or low- and middle-income countries, excluding India and mainland China.
Maximum Award: A Wellcome Career Development Award provides a salary for the grantholder (if required) and up to £250,000 research expenses.
