Seven new Cancer Grand Challenges are open for expressions of interest (EOIs) from global, interdisciplinary research teams. These challenges represent the most urgent, complex problems in cancer research that require collaboration across borders and disciplines.

Challenges:

• AI-human collaborations in cancer – Develop interdisciplinary AI agents that can generate novel cancer research hypotheses and design research plans for them to be experimentally validated.
• Cancer avoidance – Understand the mechanisms by which certain high-risk populations or the extremely aged are resistant to developing cancer.
• The dark proteome – Understand and exploit the dark proteome for cancer therapy.
• Mechanisms driving mutational signatures – Identify the insults responsible for unexplained mutational signatures.
• The nervous system and cancer – Understand the dynamic interactions between the nervous system and cancer.
• Rewiring cancer cells – Develop and apply novel ways to rewire cancer cells to their disadvantage.
• TME dynamics – Develop methods to identify the functional role of the tumour microenvironment over time.

Eligibility:

• Teams must be international in nature, with no more than 70% of the activity (and funding) being based in a single country. There is no requirement for teams to be led by, or comprise team members, who are based in the UK or US.
• A team is expected to include one Team Lead and up to seven Co-Investigators. Applications are welcomed from teams working across a breadth of disciplines, including but not limited to: the biomedical sciences; software development and technology; engineering and physical sciences; and behavioural, health, population and social sciences.

Maximum Award: Up to 20 million GBP

Application Process: This is a two-stage process: EOIs and full applications. Shortlisted team from EOI stage will be given seed funding to support submission of a full application. EOIs must be submitted through Cancer Research UK’s grants management system, Flexi-Grant.

Application Deadline: Expressions of interest are due 18 June 2025 and invited full applications are due 23 October 2025.

ผู้ที่สนใจสมัครขอรับทุนวิจัย ดำเนินการตามขั้นตอนต่อไปนี้
1. ผู้สมัครสามารถสมัครผ่านระบบ Cancer Research UK’s Flexi-Grant ของแหล่งทุนได้ที่ : https://www.cancergrandchallenges.org/applications ภายในวันที่ 13 มิถุนายน 2568 โดยผู้ที่ผ่านการคัดเลือกจาก EOI ทางแหล่งทุนจะแจ้งผลเพื่อนำไปพัฒนาข้อเสนอโครงการฉบับสมบูรณ์ต่อไป
2. ส่งข้อเสนอการวิจัยฉบับสมบูรณ์ (Full Proposal) ผ่านระบบบริหารงานวิจัยและนวัตกรรม (KIRIM) โดยมี เอกสารรูปแบบ PDF

ทั้งนี้ ขอให้ดำเนินการตามขั้นตอนให้แล้วเสร็จภายในเวลาที่กำหนด เพื่อ สวนพ. ดำเนินการตรวจสอบและเสนอพิจารณาข้อเสนอโครงการต่อไป
