The Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) is a joint undertaking between the European Union and industry associations representing the sectors involved in healthcare. The IHI is part of the Horizon Europe Framework Programme. IHI call 9 is a single-stage call applicant-driven call with topics aligned with the specific objectives of the IHI Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda.

Funding Organization: European Union and the life science industries 

Scope: The call contains five topics:

• Topic 1 (SO1): Boosting innovation for a better understanding of the determinants of health
• Topic 2 (SO2): Boosting innovation through better integration of fragmented health R&I efforts
• Topic 3 (SO3): Boosting innovation for people centred integrated healthcare solutions
• Topic 4 (SO4):Boosting innovation through exploitation of digitalisation and data exchange in healthcare
• Topic 5 (SO5):Boosting innovation for better assessment of the added value of innovative integrated healthcare solutions

Eligibility:

• Applications are open to consortia of academic and industry partnerships in Europe and countries associated with the Horizon Europe program, plus low and middle income countries.
• Co-funding of at least 45% is required. The grant provides a maximum of 30 million EUR.

Maximum Award: The maximum financial contribution from IHI for each topic:

• Topic 1 (SO1): EUR 25,000,000
• Topic 2 (SO2): EUR 100,000,000
• Topic 3 (SO3): EUR 30,000,000
• Topic 4 (SO4): EUR 24,000,000
• Topic 5 (SO5): EUR 12,000,000

Application Process: Proposals must be submitted via the electronic submission system of the EU Funding and Tenders Portal.
