1. The Liveability Challenge 2026

The Liveability Challenge (TLC), presented by Temasek Foundation and organised by Eco-Business, seeks groundbreaking climate solutions from across the world that push the boundaries of innovation. TLC welcomes all projects above Technology Readiness Level (TLR) 6 and have already achieved proof of concept. While teams may be based anywhere in the world, the proposed project must be applicable to Singapore and cities along the tropical belt.

Funding Organization: Temasek Foundation

Scope:
The Liveability Challenge 2026 features two main themes:
• Decarbonisation: disruptive deep-tech solutions that provide scalable and impactful solutions to reduce carbon emissions across diverse industries. Examples of such solutions include, but not limited to: waste-to-resource, renewable energy, energy efficiency, by-product valorization, sustainable ammonia, carbon capture, biofuel feedstocks, and resource efficiency. Solutions are required to be carbon negative in the overall life cycle, technology-based or nature-based, commercially viable and scalable, and able to conduct the pilot in Singapore or within Southeast Asia
• Cool Earth: groundbreaking innovations that specifically address the challenges posed by climate-induced extreme weather conditions. Examples of such solutions include, but not limited to: heat mitigation, nature-based solutions.

Eligibility
• Applicants must be 18 years old or older.
• Projects are at least at the Technology Readiness Level (TLR) 6 and have already achieved proof of concept

Maximum Award:
Grand winners of each theme will receive S$1 million grant funding.

2. Wildlife Acoustics Grant Program for Wildlife Research and Conservation

The Wildlife Acoustics grant program supports the advancement of wildlife research, habitat monitoring, and environmental conservation. The focus areas of the program include supporting scientists with product grants to advance the study of bats, birds, amphibians, and other terrestrial wildlife, travel grants to help researchers attend conferences, and software-only grants through streamlined applications.

Funding Organization: Wildlife Acoustics

Scope: Wildlife research, habitat monitoring, and environmental conservation

Grant Types:
• Standard Product Grant: Up to $12,000 USD in eligible products. Individual applicants may request recorders, accessories, and software licenses totaling up to $4,000 USD.
• Software-Only Grant: Selected recipients will receive one or more annual Kaleidoscope Pro licenses.
• Travel Grant: This grant, up to $1,000 USD, is for early-career professionals using Wildlife Acoustics recorders and/or software who want to present a talk or poster at an upcoming conference.

3. FAO 2026 Achievement Award

The FAO Award for Achievement recognizes outstanding global contributions that advance sustainable agrifood systems and support the mission of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The award honors individuals and organizations delivering measurable, scalable, and lasting impact across agriculture, food security, climate action, fisheries, forestry, and natural resource management.

Funding Organization: Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)

Scope: Agriculture, food security, climate action, fisheries, forestry, and natural resource management

Eligibility
The award is open to a diverse range of applicants, including:
• Individuals
• Public and private institutions
• National or local governments
• Academic and research organizations
• Foundations and non-profit organizations
• Private sector entities and social enterprises
Applicants must demonstrate that their work has produced verifiable, long-term outcomes rather than short-term or pilot-level results.

Maximum Award: A cash prize of USD 10,000

4. Wellcome Early-Career Awards

This award provides funding for early-career researchers from any discipline and based in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, or low- and middle-income countries who are ready to develop their research identity.

Funding Organization: Wellcome Trust

Research Scope: Discovery Research that has the potential to improve human life, health and wellbeing.

Eligibility: The scheme is open to early-career researchers who
• have completed a PhD (for example, in the life sciences) or an equivalent higher research degree with a substantive period of research training,
• are based in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, or low- and middle-income countries, excluding India and mainland China.

Maximum Award: A Wellcome Early-Career Award provides a salary for the grantholder and up to £400,000 for research expenses.

Application Process: Applications must be submitted to the Wellcome Funding platform (https://funding.wellcome.org).
